Inside the motor by Dan Connor.

Starting September 2006, N52K (N52N) introduced some noticeable revisions made in following areas:

  • Cylinder head cover: Plastic Cover instead of the old alumnium cover
  • Camshafts
  • Crankshaft
  • Stem diameter of exhaust valves increased to 6 mm instead of 5 mm
  • Torsional vibration damper
  • Crankcase ventilation (revised version embedded onto the valve cover)
  • Hot-film air mass meter (HFM)
  • Throttle valve
  • Digital motor electronics upgraded to MSV80
Starting December 2008, a N52K received a new revised cylinder head that fixed the HVA ticking noise. Starting February 2009, N52T shipped with F10 chassis. It included a Solenoid valve for the variable oil pump and MSV90 DME. Starting June 2010, updated new pistons for N52b25 were released to fix excessive oil burning caused by unfavourable positioning of oil drain holes.
